Suchorita Bera, Heart Operation

Four and half year old Suchorita Bera is suffering from a major heart problem and was admitted to Sri Sathya Sai institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore.

A heart operation was scheduled on 1st June, 2007. The hospital has consented to do the operation free of cost. which would have cost two lakh rupees. Medicines (plus valve) would cost rupees 2.5 Lakh which has to be borne by Mr. Kamal Bera, father of Suchorita Bera. Somehow SSIMS has sent them back saying that they would call them after few months.

Our Bangalore member, Anil approached Narayana Hrudayalaya and got the tests done for the girl. The baby has to be operated within 4 months.

We need a minimum of seventy five thousand to one lakh rupees for the operation. If we can bear half the cost, the Charity of Narayana Hrudayalaya comes forward to pay the remaining amount.

Our Comment

Right from the day we received the e-mail, we tried our level best to offer help. Our Bangalore members, Anil and Pavan, contacted Kamal Bera, with the help of Pawan, who forwarded the case to UVNK Raju.

When SSIMS sent them back saying that they will intimate the operation date later, we approached Narayana Hrudayalaya and got the tests done (for Rs. 2000). The doctors at NH have indicated one more surgery after 5 -6 years.

So for second opinion, Kamal is taking Suchorita to AIIMS, Delhi, on 18th of July for check up. He has around Rs 50, 000 with him now. He hopes to get some concession in AIIMS, for the tests. The outcome of this consultation will decide, whether the surgery is taken up in AIIMS, Delhi or NH, Bangalore.

Meanwhile we forwarded the reports to Kinnera Foundation. Though they do not support out of the state cases, they came forward to contribute Rs. 20,000. They will pay to the hospital directly.

But to proceed with the case we need a minimum amount of Rs. 75,000 to Rs. 1,00,000. So far Kamal has spent all his savings. We request you to offer your help to Suchorita.
