Govt. High School, Yelahanka

Our Bangalore members, Pavan and Rajasekhar visited Yelahanka Govt. High School on 30 June, 2007. 450 students are there from 1st to 7th class. There are only five teachers. So they appointed one volunteer and paying Rs. 1500. He will get some amount through tuitions. Students and teachers are contributing towards volunteer's salary.

They receive food from ISKCON, free of cost. The vessels are big so they need a maid to wash the dishes who charges around Rs.700. The school doesn't have sufficient Furniture. They have only 2 tables, 10 plastic chairs and 3 lockers. Many students were dropped due to lack of facilities for Higher Education. They are looking for funds to construct the classes for 8th to 10th std.

Our comment

Immediate need is Rs. 4700 per month to pay to the volunteers and domestic helper. In turn it provides employment to unemployed graduates.
